Back in November 2011, I announced, through Facebook, that I was planning to retire from active scriutineering in 2012.
After over 15 years of scrutineering most of the major events held in Western Canada, including Canadian Championships (both amateur and professional) IDSF International Open events and IDSF World Championships, I decided it was time to move on.
Recently I have been invited to speak at Professional Software Development conferences, and these events tend to conflict with competition season, and as these opportunities are connected with my career, I have decided to focus on them.
Also, my kids have grown up and have left home, and my wife, Eileen and I would like to travel more.
It has been a great 15 years - I have helped develop the concept of computerized scrutineering. When I started the available software was primitive, I developed my own application which I have used for the last 10 yrs and now there are "handheld PDA" based systems.
This weekend, the Island Fantasy Ball in Nanaimo will be my last event.
This site will remain live for a few months, so dancers can review their results, but I cannot guarantee keeping this site going past Decemeber 2012.
I wish all the competitors and officials that I have met in these last 15 years all the best in the future.
Thank you
Charles Nurse
